Exceptional Photon Blockade: Engineering Photon Blockade with Chiral Exceptional Points

چکیده
Non-Hermitian spectral degeneracies, known as exceptional points (EPs), feature simultaneous coalescence of both eigenvalues and the associated eigenstates a system. A host intriguing EP effects their applications have been revealed in classical realm, such loss-induced lasing, single-mode laser, EP-enhanced sensing. Here we show that purely quantum effect, single-photon blockade, emerges Kerr microring resonator due to EP-induced asymmetric coupling between optical modes nonlinearity-induced anharmonic energy-level spacing. striking this photon blockade is it at two-photon resonance which Hermitian systems will only lead photon-induced tunneling but not blockade. By tuning system towards or away from an EP, one can control correlations, implying potential use our for frequency tunable generation antibunching-to-bunching light switch. Our work sheds new on EP-engineered effects, providing unique opportunities making utilizing various devices.

Photon-photon interactions via Rydberg blockade.
We develop the theory of light propagation under the conditions of electromagnetically induced transparency in systems involving strongly interacting Rydberg states. Taking into account the quantum nature and the spatial propagation of light, we analyze interactions involving few-photon pulses. We show that this system can be used for the generation of nonclassical states of light including tra...

VIa The single photon character of nonclassical states of light that can be generated using photon blockade is analyzed for time domain operation. We show that improved single photon statistics (single photon around 85% with a multi-photon of 8%) can be obtained by adequately choosing the parameters (mainly amplitude and pulseduration) of the driving laser pulses. An alternative method, where t...
متن کاملAn all-silicon single-photon source by unconventional photon blockade
The lack of suitable quantum emitters in silicon and silicon-based materials has prevented the realization of room temperature, compact, stable, and integrated sources of single photons in a scalable on-chip architecture, so far. Current approaches rely on exploiting the enhanced optical nonlinearity of silicon through light confinement or slow-light propagation, and are based on parametric pro...
متن کاملSingle-photon switch based on Rydberg blockade.
All-optical switching is a technique in which a gate light pulse changes the transmission of a target light pulse without the detour via electronic signal processing. We take this to the quantum regime, where the incoming gate light pulse contains only one photon on average. The gate pulse is stored as a Rydberg excitation in an ultracold atomic gas using electromagnetically induced transparenc...
متن کاملPhoton blockade in the ultrastrong coupling regime.
We explore photon coincidence counting statistics in the ultrastrong coupling regime, where the atom-cavity coupling rate becomes comparable to the cavity resonance frequency. In this regime, usual normal order correlation functions fail to describe the output photon statistics. By expressing the electric-field operator in the cavity-emitter dressed basis, we are able to propose correlation fun...
